The Community Based Tourism Office of Kochkor invites you to Cultural Show at Song Kol Lake on July 25th! Visitors will experience the true nomadic experience at the crown jewel of Jailoos, Song Kol. See the schedule below for a breakdown of the day’s events.
|7:00 A.M.||Transportation from Kochkor CBT to Song-Kol Lake|
|10:00 A.M. – 1 P.M.||Festivities will begin with the community putting a yurt up. Also, local handicraft artisans will display carpets in traditional Kyrgyz styles (Ala Kiyiz and Shyrdak styles)|
|12:30 – 1:00 P.M.||Show guests how to prepare fried bread delicacy, boorsok, and plov, a rice dish, for lunch|
|1:00 – 2:00 P.M.||Lunch|
|2:00 – 3:30 P.M.||Horse games will begin with Ulak Tartysh, which is played with a goat’s carcass|
|3:30 – 4:00 P.M.||Next is the horse game Kyz Kuumai, which is played with couples|
|4:00 – 5:00 P.M.||The horse games will end with Engish and Tiyin Engmei, which are different types of wrestling on horseback|
|5:00 P.M.||Transportation back to Kochkor (should guests decide not to stay the night at Song-Kol)|
|5:00 – 7:00 P.M.||Free time for riding horses and playing other Kyrgyz games, such as Jooluk Tysh Tymai, Arkyn Tartysh, Kurosh|
|7:00 – 8:00 P.M.||Dinner at the Yurt Camp|
|8:00 – 11:00 P.M.||Conclude the night with a Folklore Show, which includes Manas Reciters, Komuz players, dancers, singers, and other examples of Kyrgyz musical culture|
Guests can choose to stay at Song-Kol lake before and/or after the Cultural Show with reservations made at CBT Kochkor. A ticket to the show itself is 1000 som, which includes attendance to the show and lunch.
