The World Nomad Games happen once every two years - and 2026 is the moment to be there. This is not a standard sports event. It is the world's largest celebration of nomadic culture: 3,000 athletes from 80+ nations competing in traditional disciplines you have never seen before, surrounded by felt-decorated yurts, eagle hunters, throat singers and the extraordinary backdrop of Issyk-Kul lake.
We've wrapped the Games in nine days of Kyrgyzstan at its absolute best - from Bishkek's Independence Day celebrations to the red canyons of the south shore, from an eagle hunting show on the steppe to the spectacular Closing Ceremony under the Tien Shan stars. One trip. A lifetime of stories.
Why this is unlike any event you've attended
The World Nomad Games is Kyrgyzstan showing the world who it truly is. We position you at the centre of it.
🏇 Sports with no equivalent
Kok-boru (horseback polo with a goat carcass), Er Enish (mounted wrestling), Oodarysh. These disciplines that exist nowhere else on Earth.
⛰️ Issyk-Kul as the backdrop
The world's second-largest mountain lake at 1,600m, surrounded by Tien Shan peaks. The Games arena sits on its shore. No stadium in the world has this setting.
8,000-year-old petroglyphs
The Cholpon-Ata open-air museum holds 2,000 rock carvings from 800 BC — one of Central Asia's most significant archaeological sites, visited the morning after the Closing Ceremony.
🦅 Private eagle hunting show
Before reaching the Games, you watch a local berkutchi and his golden eagle demonstrate a tradition passed down for millennia. Not a tourist show, bu a living practice.
🏟️ Opening & Closing Ceremonies
Both are included. The Opening in Bishkek's new stadium on Independence Day itself — a once-in-a-generation collision of national celebration and international spectacle.
Two religions, one city
In Karakol you visit both a Dungan Mosque and a Russian Orthodox Church — built within walking distance of each other. A physical manifestation of Kyrgyzstan's extraordinary cultural layering.
The nomadic sports you'll witness
These are not recreations. These are living traditions that nomadic cultures have practised for millennia — now performed by the world's finest competitors.
🏇 Kok-boru
Horseback polo using a goat carcass — the most dramatic sport you will ever watch
